RABIES IN SMALL ANIMALS
Rabies is an acute, progressive viral encephalomyelitis caused by Lyssa viruses, affecting all warm-blooded mammals. 1. Dogs (Canine Rabies)

- Vicious Attacks: The prodromal phase is short (under 24 hours), rapidly escalating into unprovoked, frenzied scratching and biting at owners, other animals, or inanimate objects.

3. Sheep and Goats (Ovine & Caprine Rabies)

- The Vector Pathway: Transmission occurs through salivary contamination of a bite wound, scratch, or open mucous membrane [1.1].
